Have you forgotten your WordPress’s password? And are you also being unable to reset your WordPress password? Well, in this article we will show you a way to reset it directly in your WordPress database using phpMyAdmin.

You might have to reset your password not only when you have forgotten the password, but at times even when your site gets hacked. So let’s see how it can be done.

Step 1 : Go to localhost/phpmyadmin and you will be directed to this page. how to reset password using phpmyadmin

 

Step 2: Click on your database in the left corner.

Step 3: After you click in your database, you can see a list of tables. Now you need to look for the ‘{table-prefix}_users’ table in this list and click on the ‘Browse’ link next to it.

(Please note that table names may have different table prefix in different databases.)

Step 4: Click on the “edit” button next to the username where you want to change your password.

Step 5 : PhpMyAdmin will now show you a form with all the user information fields. In order to change your password, delete the value in the user_pass field and replace it  with your new password. Also, select MD5 from the down down menu under function column, and then click on go button.

After all this, your password will be encrypted using the MD5 Hash and will be stored in the database.

This is one way to change your password, the other method to change your WordPress password is through a password reset link sent to the email address associated with your WordPress user account. This method,however, only works when you have access to the email address of your WordPress account.
